Google Workspace

Rationale

Google Workspace is Fluid Attacks' main productivity and collaboration tool.

The main reasons why we chose it over other alternatives are the following:
  1. It is an all-in-one solution that provides many essential features like email, calendar, chat, meetings, cloud storage among others.
  2. It is completely web-based, meaning that users do not have to install additional software and all information remains always updated on the cloud.
  3. It is familiar to most people, as services like Gmail and Drive are very popular for personal use.
  4. It integrates with Okta, allowing us to keep authorization centralized.

Alternatives

The following alternatives were considered but not chosen for the following reasons:
  1. Microsoft Teams: Many of its functionalities required users to download software to their computers, this caused information to be disperse as employees could download files, edit them locally and never re-upload to the cloud. User experience was poor, as basic operations like sharing a directory were not intuitive. It was a little cheaper.

We use Google Workspace for the following:
  1. Email (Gmail)
  2. Chat (Google Chat)
  3. Calendar (Google Calendar)
  4. Analytics (Google Analytics)
  5. Cloud storage and documents (Google Drive)
  6. Meetings (Google Meet)
